What is Silvilaser 2008? SilviLaser 2008 aims to bring together research scientists and practitioners from around the world to share their experience in the development and application of LiDAR for forest assessment and inventory. The conference will focus on:
Forestry applications and inventory
Forest monitoring and change detection
Ecological applications and habitat mapping
LiDAR data fusion (ground-based, airborne, satellite)
Data fusion (in-situ, aerial photos, hyper-spectral)
Algorithm and techniques development
System and intensity calibration
Large-scale and operation applications of LiDAR
New technologies.
There will be a special session on ecological applications for forest habitat assessment, sponsored by the British Ecological Society.
There will also be a pre-conference workshop. Details will be announced during December 2007.
Keynote speakers at the main conference will be:
Professor Ralph Dubayah (University of Maryland)
Dr Richard Lucas (University of Wales Aberystwyth)
and Dr Wesley Newton (USGS Northern Prairie Wildlife Research Center) for the special session on ecological applications for forest habitat assessment.

15th May 2008: submission of manuscripts for review - call for papers
(Papers may now be submitted online)
15th June 2008: results of double blind reviews sent to authors
30th June 2008: deadline for early registration
31st July 2008: submission of finalised papers
20th September 2008: opportunity for post conference tours

Booking information Registration fees: standard £245 and student £190. There is a discount for registrations received before 1st July 2008. Registrations are now being accepted.
